The True Color of Updrops CBD Oil

by Dave Marshall

“I just received a recently-purchased bottle of Updrops, and it has a different color from the previous bottle I purchased. Why? What does it mean?”

We get variations of the above question regularly, so let’s address it since you may have the same question.

All Natural. No Dyes.

Every bottle of Updrops is a natural product, which means it’s perfectly normal for differences in color and flavor between crops.

Plus, any exposure to air or direct sunlight can also impact the color.

Extraction Process

To pull the CBD from hemp, we currently use a process called subcritical CO2 extraction—and here’s why:

More precise removal of CBD and other cannabinoids

Better preservation of CBD, terpenes,  & other beneficial compounds

Safer for you and the environment

We switched to this process after first using supercritical CO2 extraction, a similar process that applies much higher pressure.

We made this change because the lower pressure of subcritical CO2 extraction results in more CBD per batch and fewer terpenes.

The Terpene Effect

Terpenes are the aromatic oils that help create the redolent scents you love in your favorite plants, fruits, vegetables, and cannabis strains.

Even more, terpenes also influence the wellness effects that CBD may provide.

So, you may be wondering…

Why would we decide to use a process that results in fewer terpenes?

First, it reduces the sharpness and intensity of both the aroma and taste of your cannabis, which means you enjoy a better-tasting product.

Second, fewer terpenes doesn’t mean NO terpenes. So, you’re still getting the benefits of terpenes but in a more concentrated form.

Bottom line? Fewer terpenes, lighter color Updrops.

Different Season + Different Crop Batch = Different Color

Hemp is remarkably sturdy, so the plant is grown and harvested year-round in a variety of climates.

Obviously, growing conditions in winter are different from those in summer.

That’s why Updrops can have anywhere from a clear-to-light-yellow color (typically, a summer batch) to a darker, reddish-amber one (usually winter).

This doesn’t diminish the quality of the hemp. But it does impact the color from batch to batch.

(Similar to how mangos at the market are always different in color.)

Guaranteed Quality

The quality of CBD in every bottle of Updrops is guaranteed.

It’s verified by a Certificate of Analysis (COA) that confirms:

CBD content

THC % (always 0.1% or less, much better than the industry standard of 0.3%)

Other cannabinoid content

Lack of harmful toxins, heavy metals, pesticides, and more.
